Check out Monster Train on Steam here:

Monster Train is a roguelite deckbuilder that is clearly inspired by games like Slay the Spire but also puts its own spin on the formula, including spawning minions and an emphasis on positioning. It’s one of the year’s most enjoyable roguelites so far so I decided to play some more of it. Check it out!

I love that NL still hasn't figured out that the mines don't go off before the rest of the row.

Great content, not Venting the bottom floor two turns in a row on Seraph to clear out the 12 attack minions seemed questionable. But otherwise a great run as usual.

That refraction event is so good. I once refracted one of my incant sirens, then duplicated her 2 times. Put them along with the shark that gets incant armour on the same floor. Nothing got past them. Also put my champion that reduced mana cost on damage spells on that floor for good measure. 😉

For all the good plays in this one, I at the very least want you to take the unbroken horn artifact next time instead of hels banner, unbroken horn is so good in this game, especially with all the pyre gorgers and imp-portant works, emberdrain would not have been an issue at all, and vent could’ve gotten very powerful

If he does another rage synergy and never picks up branded warrior Im going to be upset, especially after seeing him take railbeater which enables the slay triggers

Hey NL, been a long time fan and just wanted to say it's nice to have something of yours I truly enjoy watching again. I used to watch Isaac episodes daily but eventually stopped and now I'm binge watching this series and I enjoy it just as much as the Isaac episodes so thank you.
I do have to ask though, as I'm still getting caught up on episodes and I don't want you take this as a direct slight to you, but: Why.. The fuck.. is the playlist going from Newest to oldest? It's actually so tilting to try binge watching the episodes. Is that a new YouTube thing or is it something you've started doing recently?

Yes, lets build around buffs and debuffs, when we see that seraph purges buffs and debuffs. what could possibly go wrong.

NL, for future reference, saving the Trancend-imp for later on in the battle offers much more value rather than playing it after only playing one other Imp

Really nice start NL, would of liked getting a multi-strike rather than +10 dmg in the first shop though on your rage unit, leaving an upgrade slot open for a couple floors is not the end of the world when preparing for the final boss.
Rushed the shops like crazy this run, you don't need to spend every bit of gold you have, could have gotten 4+ more artifacts rather than pointless upgrades like endless and rerolls/removes (choose more (remove 2) floors than upgrades if that's what you want).
Also taking the book that gives multi-strike 1 early is very strong, you can get energy from artifacts or just from pyre upgrades, and upgrade it to not consume and lower cost, one unit can clear the entire floor lol.
Taking two pyre capacity did not help you much at all, one capacity one draw or energy would have been great.
You can mix and match champion upgrades too, sweep+frostbite is strong, or even 1 point in less cost is nice, champion did nothing anyway when its a 40/3.
Someone else said this but put support units one space in front of your dps units, between the dps and tank, so when the tank dies, the support unit tanks a hit for your 100+ dps unit, would have done way more damage. also put armor on even support units if it's dying to sweep, you lost it early which means you can't have it block a boss hit and lose it's armor bonuses.

At 8:55 you recite blasphemies. Volatile Gauge has so many broken synergies. Strongest deck I ever had was three Shadow Siege with multi strike and quick.

WHAT? stygian champion is not the worst champion. shes one of the best, you just have to understand her low HP means you cant do some things, like take a spikes trial without thinking about the consequences. tethys will have no problems being the primary dps for boss kill with any passable frontline

Please NL, please just hit end turn when you have X on the boss. It would be so easy to forget an incant trigger or something that makes it so he lives when it isn't necessary.

i think umbra champion is worse than stygian. Umbra just trys to be strong but it cant handle swarms or bosses and just feels useless.

Hey NL I wanted to congratulate you on getting much better. Now I know you do random to keep things fun and engaging for the audience but you should really reroll whenever you see a boss that hard counters your champion or starting deck. Like cleanse seraph hard countering rage, frost both your regen and spikes on your thorned hollow from the last run.
